Empty. Rusty. Dying.

Old and rusty Pepsi Tin at the left behind Hotel Beau Rivage. Suprisingly it’s still possible to book a room. Maybe someone some day will notice that this Hotel is not exsting anymore. More shots of the seedy Hotel will follow soon.

Like a Bathing Cap

I pretty much love the Design and the Construction of the Yas Hotel and I will not forget my short visit to Yas Island.

Yas Island is an island in Abu Dhabi. The island is the site of a US$36 billion development project. It occupies a total land area of 2,500 hectares, of which 1,700 hectares will be claimed for development. The island holds the Yas Island Circuit. Yas Island was named the World’s leading tourism project at the World Travel Awards in November 2009.

Yas Hotel Abu Dhabi

On the Path of Sebastian Vettel, a short but impressive Visit of Yas Island (Arabic:  ), the Formula One Circuit and the well known Yas Hotel.

The Yas Hotel:
With a design inspired by the ergonomics and speedlines of high performance cars and yachts - and the first hotel to ever be built over a Formula One™ race circuit - individuality and excitement are the cornerstones of each and every detail here.
Set half on land and half on water, the hotel connects by link bridge to both Yas Marina Circuit - home of the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - and Yas Marina & Yacht Club - a nexus of luxury, dining and exclusive nightlife managed by Cipriani Group.
Staying here means you are always just a short walk away from the racing and yachting action, plus you’ll find one-of-a-kind restaurants and entertainment at your doorstep - from casual and fine dining, to intimate dinner theatre and high-energy nightlife.

The Grand Mosque

Nice view of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque (Arabic: مسجد الشيخ زايد) in Abu Dhabi is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates and the eighth largest mosque in the world. It is named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder and the first President of the United Arab Emirates, who is also buried next to the mosque(outer left side). The mosque was opened for worship since Eid Al Adha December 2007.

The Mosque is large enough to accommodate 40,000 worshippers. The main prayer hall can accommodate up to 9,000 worshippers. Two rooms next to the main prayer hall, with a 1,500-capacity each, are for the exclusive use of women.

There are four minarets on the four corners of the mosque which rise about 115 m (377 ft) in height. There are 57 domes covering the outside yard and the main building as well. The domes are decorated with white Bianco marble from Pietrasanta, Italy and the interior decoration is made of white marble from Laas, Italy. The courtyard is paved with floral marble designs and measures about 17,000 m2 (180,000 sq ft).

The Entrance

A kind of Drive-by Shot of the Entrance of the Emirates Palace (Arabic: قصر الإمارات) in Abu Dhabi, also made with my Lumix. And I kind of like it.

The costs to build the hotel were 1.9 billion GBP or 11.02 billion AED. The Emirates Palace occupies 850,000m² of floor space. Underground parking allows housing for 2,500 vehicles. The hotel has its own marina and helipad.
Set in over 100 hectares of landscaped gardens, Emirates Palace offers 1.3km of exclusive beach, two swimming pools, one designed for adventure and one for relaxation, tennis courts, cricket and soccer facilities, fitness suites and a spa, besides water sports.
The Emirates Palace is the second most expensive hotel ever built.
